Crescat scientia; vita excolatur

Saturday marked attendance at the third graduation ceremony in a month. CCC celebrated on May 12, last week I was at my nephew’s high school graduation, and yesterday the University of Chicago held its 511th convocation.

Although I was there to see my son receive his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Honors, I had the additional pleasure of watching Professor Rosie Banks join theĀ ancient and honorable company of scholars. Dr. Banks’ dissertation is entitled, “Adjusting Mental Hygiene: Mental Health, Social Policy, and the Problem of Difference in Mental Hygiene, 1917-1950.” In earning her PhD, Dr. Banks honors us with her achievement and dedication to our students. Harold Washington College is fortunate to have her on our faculty.
