I led with this exciting announcement at last Friday’s State of the College address, but I wanted to provide the reference here. John Hader was quoted in the New York Times article “Teaching as a Second, or Even Third, Career” on Friday regarding his work on the Encore Program here at the college.
I wanted to draw special attention to the John’s quote from the article: “We chose 55 applicants who qualified in these areas and taught them how to manage a classroom, assess student learning levels, use educational technology and encourage active learning.” In that one sentence, John captured key elements of instructional excellence we value. It is a great way to get the word out about what Harold Washington College values in our faculty and instructors.
Thanks to John for his leadership of this program, and congratulations on the recognition. We are fortunate to have John leading the charge here.
Hi:
Any plans for developing instructional programs in training seniors in the benefits and practical uses of being online?
Have written a good deal about this topic in http://www.getseniorsonline.org
