This past Friday night, I joined faculty adviser Kamran Swanson for a joyous event organized by HWC’s own African Student Association. Aziz, the ASA’s president, did a masterful job as Master of Ceremonies, introducing several waves of students garbed in traditional African and contemporary urban fashion. Both male and female students walked an improvised catwalk accompanied by a variety of music. While the models changed into new outfits, Aziz introduced musical and dance acts. By the time I departed (when the ASA-sponsored dance for everyone started), Room 103 was full of energy. It was a great event.
It was not all fun and games. ASA also raised money for a child they are sponsoring in Africa. Congratulations to ASA and SGA President Timi Akinde for putting together such an enjoyable evening.
Thank you for attending, Don. I heard numerous comments from the students expressing their happiness that you were there.
